Happy New Year alumni and friends of St. Edward School!!

I pray that this new year will bring Christ’s peace and happiness to you and those you love.

All is well here at St. Edward’s!   Christmas was prayerful and peaceful.  I hope you too enjoyed your holy days.  I continue to be amazed at the number of people who attend Christmas Mass.  Our regular Sunday Mass attendance is @ 320.  On Christmas Eve & Day we saw over 500.

The new year brings about our school’s five year accreditation visit.  The faculty, staff and Board of Education is preparing for our on-site visit in February.  We hope to report the findings in our next newsletter.  This will give us an opportunity to “see what’s working & what needs some improvement or attention.”  As you can imagine this process also brings about some anxiety.  Thanks for remembering the school, faculty, staff and students in your prayers the next few months!  They are much appreciated.

I kindly ask that if you add or change your email or mailing address send it to us so that we can update our database.  Email any changes to us at alumni@stedwardky.org, or mail them to 107 N. Walnut St. Cynthiana, KY  41031, or phone us at 859.234.5444 and speak to Sherri.  Thanks!!

Sincerely,

Rev. Douglas Lauer, pastor

Comments from our new chairman of the board

Christmas in New Orleans:  at our November meeting those members present agreed to a project helping young Catholics in New Orleans to experience Christmas JOY.  St. Edward students, faculty, staff & parishioners donated many items which were taken by alumni to St. Paul the Apostle Parish for distribution.

Fall Festival proposal:  At this time we are investigating the possibility of sponsoring a Fall Festival which will raise funds for the school.  If you would like to lend your assistance kindly email me at alumni@stedwardky.org

high school students news:

Several times a year, our faculty and staff hear comments that go something like:  We are impressed with the character and academic performance of the students that come from St. Edward.”

We are happy to hear these comments for they acknowledge what we know; that our students are well prepared for their public school career.

To that end we are happy to announce some of the achievements of several of our alumni in high school.

At the Homecoming in September, senior Jonathan Furnish was crowned King and senior Jessica Huellemeier was named to the Court.

Junior Jared Westhoff has almost completed his Eagle Scout Project.  He created a Zen Garden at the Cardome facility.  Sophomore Brad Westhoff is gearing up for his Eagle Scout Project.

Shortly before Christmas, senior Jordin Vallandingham and freshman Taylor Vallandingham, members of the high school choir, performed at DisneyWorld.
